Business community warms up for Leeds 10k Corporate Challenge
THE Yorkshire business community is warming up once again for this year’s Leeds 10k Corporate Challenge.
Hundreds of businessmen and women will pull on their trainers to take part in this year’s event, which has been sponsored by law firm Clarion since it was first held in 2007, on July 12.
The hotly-contested competition has grown into a key part of the flagship Asda Foundation 10K organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All.

A race within a race, the challenge is open to teams of runners, with the average time of the first three team members home used to calculate the winners.
More than 50 firms and organisations took part in 2014 and the field included all sectors, including accountants, law companies, engineers, hotel staff, removal company employees and media companies.
Bragging rights last year went to law firm Irwin Mitchell who triumphed in a time of 39:22.
Clarion joint managing Roger Hutton said: “The corporate challenge has grown into a really popular feature of the Leeds 10K and it was excellent to see so many companies taking part last year.
“The challenge provides a great incentive for staff to get fitter, throw down the gauntlet to their rivals and, more importantly, raise money for a good cause. We are proud of our long association with this superb event.”
Run For All corporate manager Graham Watson said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Clarion back again for what we are sure will be another incredibly successful year.”
Up to 10,000 people are expected to take part in this Asda Foundation Leeds 10K. It will be the ninth running of the event which has so far raised over £2.5m for charity.
People taking part can run for one of the event’s partner or support a good cause of their own choice. The partner charities are Jane Tomlinson Appeal, The Haven, Macmillan Cancer Support, Martin House Children’s Hospice, Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, St George’s Crypt, Leeds Children’s Hospital Appeal, Yorkshire Cancer Research, Mencap Leeds and Sue Ryder.
Revamped in 2013, the route is now faster and flatter. It starts in Vicar Lane, takes the runners out and back along Kirkstall Road and ends in front of the Town Hall.
