Fish suppliers frozen out of "highly competitive environment"

A SOUTH Humberside supplier of frozen fish and seafood has closed and administrators have sold its assets.

Seaco UK, founded in Grimsby in 2007, sourced and produced whitefish filets to supply customers in the processing, wholesale and catering sectors.  

Kelly Burton and Joanne Wright from Sheffield-based Wilson Field were appointed as joint administrators of Seaco UK last month and have now completed a sale of Seaco’s assets.

Ms Burton said: “Unfortunately, the business was affected by the general downturn in trade in a highly competitive environment.

“We marketed the business’ assets following our appointment and concluded prompt sales.”

Its eight staff were made redundant prior to the administration.
