Charity: LandAid and Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Simon on the Streets, The Candlelighters Trust

TWO of the region’s charities are set to receive a boost as teams from property firm Carter Jonas and the business community will be amongst over 400 riders taking part in the second legacy cycling event in the region.
The Yorkshire Pedalthon will raise cash for LandAid and Yorkshire Air Ambulance. A charitable foundation supported by the property industry, LandAid aims to improve the lives of children and young people in the UK who are disadvantaged owing to their economic or social circumstances.
Paul Morrish, chief executive at LandAid, said: “Many young people in the UK face a tough future and for those struggling with homelessness, unemployment or the consequences of leaving care, the challenges of a rapidly changing world are huge and they’re getting left behind.
“LandAid gives more than £1m every year to charities helping vulnerable young people and is supporting some great projects in Leeds, Sheffield and Bradford.
“We are so grateful to Carter Jonas for involving us in this exciting event which is raising essential funds to give communities and young people the hope of a more positive future.”
Helen Gowans, regional fundraising manager at the Yorkshire Air Ambulance said: “Our rapid response air emergency service serves a population of around 5m people across 4 million acres of Yorkshire.
“We rely on the generosity of individuals and organisations to help save lives across Yorkshire and we’re delighted to be associated once more with the Yorkshire Pedalthon.”

Recruitment consultancy AMsource Technology has supported local child cancer charity The Candlelighters Trust in a fundraising skydive.
AMsource Technology team members signed up to do a 15,000ft sky dive through Target Sky Dive based at Hibaldstow, something that none of them had attempted before.
The group set an ambitious target of £2000 to raise and have since exceeded this amount, raising upwards of £3000 with more donations flying in after the event.
The grand total raised by AMsource Technology puts them in the top 2% of fundraisers who use fundraising site Just Giving.
Following the Sky Dive, the AMsource Technology team were invited by Candlelighters to visit them at their office at Leeds General Infirmary so they could see for themselves the type of amazing work that is made possible from the money raised by such events.

At the Simon on the Streets’ Rough Diamond Ball on March 20, guests will get a chance to get a hold of some glitter as a Leeds-based private client jeweller has donated a diamond to the charity.
Guests will have the chance to win the diamond and have it transformed into a piece of bespoke jewellery thanks to N. J. Geddes Fine Jewellery Concierge. Every other glass will contain a pretty Cubic Zirconia gem – meaning that everyone finds a bit of bling.
The Rough Diamond Ball is at Oulton Hall on March 20.
The charity’s general manager, Helen Beachell said: “The Rough Diamond Ball is our first big black tie event and we’re determined to make sure that everyone who supports us by buying a ticket has a fantastic time.
“We’re enormously grateful to Neil and his team for their support.”
Simon on the Streets supports around 100 service users in Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield.
It costs the charity a little over £2,000 per year to intensively support one rough sleeper, which is a considerably more economical option than many government funded services.
98p in every £1 of the charity’s income is spent on its charitable activity, directly going towards supporting its service users.
