Charity: Baker Tilly, Walker Morris, Provide Education

THE Baker Tilly restructuring and recovery team in Hull helped raise more than £3000 for Comic Relief with a quiz.

42 teams comprised of bankers, solicitors and other professionals from across the region took part in the quiz night which took place at the KC stadium on  March 12.

The quiz was won by a team from Hull solicitors Stamp, Jackson and Procter.

In total, including match funding from Baker Tilly, the event raised £3,300 for Comic Relief which aims to address issues of poverty and social injustice in the UK and across the world.

Alec Pillmoor, restructuring and recovery partner at Baker Tilly in Hull said: “The quiz is a great excuse to get local professionals together, have some fun, and raise money for a worthy cause.

“We are very grateful to P&O Ferries and the KC Stadium for supplying raffle prizes for the evening and to everyone who contributed so generously.”

Walker Morris’ new trainee travel bursary scheme, which awards £1,000 to three of its new intake of trainees each year has allowed Mark Scoles to travel to Vietnam to teach.

Mr Scoles is one month into his four month challenge to undertake a teaching internship program in Vietnam organised through ELC Vietnam.

Mark is teaching English at two local Vietnamese primary schools to classes of 40 children, plus at a local college and also private classes.

Brighouse recruitment agency sprang into action at the weekend to raise money for its chosen charity, Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

An enthusiastic team from Provide Education completed the Major Series 12k obstacle race at Bramham Park near Wetherby, raising nearly £800 for the charity.

Provide Education director Barry Simmons said:  “The team battled through mud, ice baths, streams and yet more mud.  It was a really tough day for everyone taking part but they all came through in one piece, and still smiling.”

The award-winning Major Series has over 40 troops on hand to help participants through some of the more challenging sections of its races.

Provide Education, which has offices in Brighouse, works with hundreds of teachers and other staff helping them to find supply posts in schools across the region.

Forget Me Not children’s hospice, in Huddersfield, supports children with life shortening conditions and their families.
