Security firm beefs up with Tour de Yorkshire contract and new office

A SECURITY firm with contracts at Leeds United and Castleford Tigers is working alongside Tour Makers to deliver a safe Tour de Yorkshire this May.

In a double win, the firm, Gough & Kelly, is also looking at opening an office in York as its customer base continues to expand.

Leeds-based Gough & Kelly, which has worked on a range of large-scale city centre festivals and sporting events and has long-standing contracts with football club Leeds United and rugby league club Castleford Tigers, will be responsible for keeping cyclists and spectators safe as the stage two races finish in York on 2 May.

Group operations manager Ian Crawford said: “Just as it was in last year’s Tour de France, York promises to be an exciting stage in the Tour de Yorkshire.

“Our role is to work with the Tour Makers to man the roads and crossings along the route, keeping spectators and cyclists safe throughout the event.

“We’ve also been working with City of York Council to provide operational security support for two years now, as well as delivering intruder alarms and CCTV monitoring services for several businesses in the area.

“We’re keen to have a presence in York to support our existing customers and expand our work there. The Tour de Yorkshire contract is fantastic and we’re very happy to be working on such a prestigious event.”

Gough & Kelly was established in 1989 and provides security products and services to businesses, local authorities, sporting venues and events and schools, colleges and universities across Yorkshire.
