Pillow firm cottons on to growth

MANUFACTURER of pillows and duvets, the John Cotton Group has acquired a “multi-million” site to help boost expansion plans.
At nearly 100 years-old (founded in 1916) the group has bought warehouse and distribution premises to support UK growth on Low Mill Lane in Ravensthorpe.
The firm also let further units at Bradford’s Euroway Trading Estate in April.
Mark Cotton, group managing director at John Cotton, said: “Both our Nonwoven and Home Textiles divisions have experienced substantial growth over the last few years and these new properties will help us to expand our warehousing facilities in the Mirfield area to support further growth.
“We are a business that is passionate about investing in the local area, so when these properties became available, it was the perfect opportunity for us to fulfil both our social and commercial aspirations.”
The Leeds office of law firm Irwin Mitchell advised John Cotton Group on the deal.
Real estate partner, John Flathers, led on the transaction with additional support from partner Andrew Walker and corporate partner Philip Goldsborough.
John Flathers, head of real estate at Irwin Mitchell in Leeds, said: “John Cotton is a new client for the Leeds office of Irwin Mitchell and it is clearly an ambitious and exciting business to be involved with. We are delighted to advise on this deal and look forward to working with the business in the future.”
