Appointments: Leeds Community Foundation, Managing Partners’ Forum, Building & Engineering Services Association

THE Leeds Community Foundation has appointed KPMG director Jonathan Turner to its Finance Audit and Governance Committee
Launched in 2005, LCF is a charity dedicated to creating positive change in local communities, distributing more than £25m in grants to local community groups.
The Foundation’s role is to advise and connect individuals and organisations who wish to invest in a better future for our city with the community groups who make a real difference.
Jonathan Turner is a chartered tax adviser and director in KPMG’s Leeds Private Client team. He specialises in providing taxation advice to high net worth individuals, trusts, partnerships and charities.
His appointment will enhance and grow the current committee which includes Andrew Wrigglesworth from Wrigleys and Patrick Fordham of The Private Office.
Mr Turner said: “I am delighted to join Leeds Community Foundation and use my expertise to support a charity which has the ability to tackle the issues which are affecting our city and make a significant impact in improving the lives of local people.”

THE managing director of Lupton Fawcett Denison Till, Richard Marshall, has been appointed as the Yorkshire chairperson of the Managing Partners’ Forum.
He replaces Peter Smart former chairperson and managing partner at Walker Morris, who held the position since 2009.
Mr Smart said: “I was absolutely delighted to learn that Richard was keen to take the MPF baton. The MPF is a national movement enhancing leadership practices in the professions but requires strong local leadership to engage Yorkshire based firms and tailor delivery of services to their needs.
“I genuinely mean it when I say that Richard is the perfect choice and I cannot think of a better successor!”
Richard Marshall said: “MPF plays a crucial role in supporting and representing those entrusted with leadership roles across the entire professional services sector. I hope to continue to build the MPF brand locally with the support of dynamic CEO Paul Lemon and my Yorkshire committee.
“Our aim is to help local firms grow by providing insight to leadership teams to improve performance, increase profitability and prepare for an uncertain future.”

BUSINESS director of York-based Shepherd Engineering Services has been elected president of the Building & Engineering Services Association.
He joined Shepherd as a craft apprentice in 1982, and was the firm’s youngest regional director then promoted to Yorkshire operational director responsible for a turnover of circa £30m.
After this he became divisional director looking after a turnover of £60m and more recently holding the dual roles of national pre-construction director and business development director.
Within B&ES, he was a member of the Council of the Association from 2003 to 2006 and chairman of the North West Region from 2006 to 2008. In 2012, he was elected to the chairmanship of Yorkshire Region, and returned to the B&ES Council in the same year.
First established in 1904, B&ES has 1300 member companies are engaged in the design, installation, and maintenance of a wide range of building engineering services
