Proposed employment park would house 3,500 jobs

AN outline planning application has been put forward for a 2.5 million sq ft employment park at 200 acres of land to the south of Doncaster.
Harworth South is funding the £200m scheme designed by Barton Willmore, which also prepared the planning application and say the park will deliver over 3,500 new jobs and provide a £500m boost to the local economy.
A new road will link Bawtry Road and Blyth Road, near to Harworth and Bircotes, and the scheme will provide starter units for small businesses as well as a range of larger space buildings for regional and national occupiers. The employment park will be complemented by other facilities including areas of natural green space and a gateway hub with a shop, café, crèche, public house and hotel which will be a focal point for the scheme.
Dan Mitchell, partner at Barton Willmore, said: “The application represents the culmination of many months of hard work in designing a scheme that will provide a real step change in the fortunes of this important town. Harworth is an exciting place of opportunity and to do business, with passionate local people who want the town to be successful. Our proposals will provide much needed accommodation for many local businesses creating the right opportunities for them to grow.”
Max Howard, director at Harworth South, added:
“We have evolved our proposals by working closely with Bassetlaw District Council and Harworth Town Council. Now that the application is submitted together with the full evidence base, we hope that the Council can support the proposals at Planning Committee. The scheme is important for Harworth and for Bassetlaw and will provide much needed new jobs. We have the opportunity to attract high technology manufacturing businesses and logistic companies. The site is ideally situated adjacent to the A1(M).”
Harworth South is receiving agency advice from Brown & Co’s Retford office and Barton Willmore provided town planning, masterplanning and landscape services.
