Development acquired by social landlord after 10 years of disuse

SOCIAL landlord Yorkshire Housing has acquired 11 apartments in Skipton from Ilkley-based Burley Developments.

The apartments at Eller House, located on the town’s redeveloped Belle Vue Mills, will become affordable housing.

Eller House is the last part of the site to be redeveloped and work on it is expected to finish later this summer. Majestic Wines will be taking most of the retail space at the site.

A Grade II-listed building, Eller House was constructed in 1864 as a warehouse. It has been unoccupied since being vacated in 2005, like the rest of the Belle Vue Mills site, by Kingsley Cards, which had operated from there for 21 years.

Leeds-based Yorkshire Housing owns and manages more than 18,000 social and affordable homes throughout the region. It is the county’s largest developer of affordable homes, and builds around 300 high-quality properties a year. The company has a turnover of £82m and employs over 750 people.

Phil Gregory, a partner in Gordons’ commercial property team, advised Yorkshire Housing on the acquisition and development of the scheme.

Mr Gregory said: “We are very pleased to have been able to act for Yorkshire Housing on this project.

“We’re now looking forward to working together with them on future projects. As a firm with such a focus on the region, it is great being involved with an association such as Yorkshire Housing”
