Retail briefs: St Modwen; TK Maxx; The Broadway Bradford

DONCASTER’S Waterdale Shopping Centre has welcomed a new retailer and expanded the floor space of an existing tenant as it says it is now “heading in the right direction”.
Rewind, an independent shop offering a range of vintage and modern collectables, has agreed a five year lease for a newly-refurbished 816 sq ft unit, while Doncaster Refurnish has taken an additional 4,212 sq ft as it expands its provision of new and pre-owned furniture.
Richard Bannister, regional manager at centre owners St Modwen, said: “The launch of Rewind and expansion of Doncaster Refurnish show that we are heading in the right direction. New tenants are keen to have a presence in Waterdale Shopping Centre, while existing tenants are growing as a result of the commercial success they have enjoyed here.
“These new additions to the centre demonstrate our continued support to local, independent businesses, which are able to offer something new and different to shoppers. We remain wholly committed to regenerating the centre so that it benefits both customers and retailers in the area.”

TK MAXX has signed a 15-year lease on 10,000 sq ft at Sheffield’s Kilner Way Retail Park.
The Derwent Group has handed over the unit to TK Maxx for fit-out works to begin with an opening date set for late summer.
James Maule-Ffinch, senior asset manager at Derwent, said: “TK Maxx coming to Kilner Way is fantastic for the scheme as a whole and is great timing for them given that we’re nearing completion of the new decked car park and signing up a leisure operator to the scheme.”

BRADFORD is counting down the days until the opening of £260m retail development The Broadway on November 5.
Yesterday marked the “100 days to go” mark for the long-awaited centre, which will create 2,500 retail jobs when it opens at the start of the Christmas trading period.
The 570,000 sq ft centre will be the largest retail centre in the country to open this year, and is now more than 70% let.
Cllr David Green, leader of Bradford Council, said: “These are exciting times for Bradford, with all the new investment coming to the city, and now we are just over three months away from the opening of The Broadway. The Broadway is a key part of the ongoing regeneration of Bradford city centre and has been key in building confidence in the district.”
