Cash injection for Straight Ltd from parent OnePlastics

PLASTICS group OnePlastics, owners of Straight Ltd, is investing in machinery for the business.

Straight Ltd’s Hull factory has bought two Engel injection moulding machines, of 1,000 tonne and 800 tonnes respectively.

The machinery will boost capacity at the firm which was previously owned by prominent Yorkshire entrepreneur Jonathan Straight.

The machines each have three axis robots, and a further investment in digital printers will enable automatic printing in line with the moulding process.

OnePlastics Group is attempting to drive long-term organic growth in the six portfolio businesses, which includes Straight after it acquired the firm in August 2014.

Only a few months ago the firm invested another seven figure sum on new machinery at Rotherham-based MGB Plastics.

Karl Stillman, OnePlastics group sales director, said:”OnePlastics Group is committed to innovation and leading the market with products that will revolutionise the recycling and waste management industry.

“Our strategy is to strengthen and invest in all parts of our business to achieve this objective and these new machines will help with production and help develop new products.

“Straight has made a substantial investment in new product innovations over the years such as new faster cycling tooling for its kerbside box, the 3Box Stack and food waste caddy ranges and this investment will help continue this drive.”

Irish firm One51plc created a new brand called OnePlastics Group last year as an umbrella firm for six companies including Straight and MGB Plastics, as well as a design office in the US.

OnePlastics Group has a combined turnover of around €150m employing 450 people servicing a range of blue chip multinationals.
