Inflation creeps up in July

FOR the sixth consecutive month, inflation has come in at between plus or minus 0.1% as July’s figures showed a slight increase.
The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) grew by 0.1% in the year to July 2015, up from 0.0% in the year to June 2015 – which had been the third time this year it was stagnant.
Data compiled by the Office for National Statistics shows the increase in the CPI was fuelled by a smaller fall in clothing prices on the month compared with a year ago.
However, falling prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages helped to partially offset the rise.
