Grade-II listed headquarters ‘The Citadel’ sold

THE historical headquarters of The Salvation Army, dubbed ‘The Citadel’ in York, has been sold.

Barry Crux & Company sold the Grade-II listed 11,750 sq ft site to York City Church.

Headquarters if The Salvation Army since 1882, the building comprises the main hall, retail shop, cafe, catering kitchen and offices.

Following the sale of the Gillygate premises, The Salvation Army will continue work from its three main locations in the city.
