Charity: Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Willow Young Carers Service

THE Yorkshire Air Ambulance is flying high after being chosen as charity partner by Deloitte, and having £2,500 raised for it by Nexus Vehicle Rental.

The Nexus team completed a 24.5-mile Yorkshire Dales Three Peaks Challenge, and finished the challenge in less than 12 hours after scaling Pen-Y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m).

The rapid response emergency service was selected as Deloitte in Yorkshire’s charity partner for the next two years after a vote by nearly 500 staff in the firm’s Leeds office.

Helen Kaye, partner and corporate social responsibility lead at Deloitte in Yorkshire, said: “Through our corporate social responsibility programme at Deloitte, our aim is to play a proactive role in helping our local charity deal with key organisational challenges, not just raising funds but also providing time and expertise through volunteering and pro-bono support.”

Yorkshire Air Ambulance serves five million people across the county and attends more than 1,000 incidents a year. The charity has so far airlifted more than 6,200 people.

Paul Gowland, Yorkshire Air Ambulance Head of Fundraising, said:”We need to raise £12,000 every day to keep our two helicopters flying and it is support like this from fantastic companies like Deloitte that is so vital to helping us achieve that target.”

Nexus head of marketing, Sam Butterworth said: “This has been a great opportunity for some of our team to realise a significant personal goal at the same time as raising awareness and valuable funds for a fantastic and important local charity.”
