Security firm makes alarming acquisition

LEEDS-BASED security firm Gough & Kelly has snapped up an intruder alarm company to start their new financial year.

The firm, which employs more than 140 staff provide security services and equipment to the region, has bought Rothwell-based Haigh Alarms.

The acquisition is part of plans to increase turnover by £1m, up to £7m in the coming 12 months.

Managing director Stephen Kelly, who founded the firm in 1989 said: “Haigh Alarms is a well-respected local firm with a strong domestic and commercial customer base, and we’re very pleased to welcome Geoff Haigh to our team.

“We’ll be working together closely to ensure the smooth integration of the two companies, and I look forward to seeing this area of the business continue to grow.”

Haigh Alarms managing director Geoff Haigh adds, “I know that many of our existing customers will benefit from the wider security services Gough and Kelly provides, which is why bringing the two businesses together is a great fit for our customer base. It will add strength to both of our companies, and provide plenty of scope for growth.”

Gough & Kelly have reported record sales this year, and are preparing for growth with the appointment of two board directors.

Ian Crawford and Gavin Fearnley have joined the senior team

Mr Kelly said of their appointments: “Both Ian and Gavin have become more and more involved in running the business over the past twelve months and I’m pleased to formally welcome them to the board, where I know they will have a very positive impact on supporting the existing team to deliver our growth plans.”
