Prison training firm snapped up by mechanical engineering institute

DONCASTER traineeships provider Amber Train have been bought up by the Institute of Mechanical Engineering as it looks to fill the skills gaps in the sector.
Amber Train, based in Retford, specialise in providing apprenticeships to those just out of education or towards the end of prison sentences.
Avondale, a London business broker, generated interest in the company and the Institute’s offer was considered the best, though it remains undisclosed.
One of the directors of Amber Train will continue working for the purchaser on a consultancy basis for two years. The transaction from launch to completion took 10 months.
Martyn Butler, managing director of Amber Train comments: “I’m looking forward to working with the Institution on this new chapter for Amber Train.
“I’m confident that we will be able to offer yet more opportunities for budding engineers and technicians. Avondale were there by my side from start to finish,
“I am very happy with the final outcome and would recommend them to anyone looking for exit. “
