Green light for £43m West Yorkshire business hub

A BUSINESS hub in Sowerby Bridge has been given the green light.

Planning for Genr8 Development’s Copley Valley development will involve 80,000 sq ft of business units.

Calderdale Council is working with Manchester-based Genr8 to deliver the Sowerby Bridge regeneration scheme, and the Manchester-based firm has brought in Elland company Commercial Development Projects to deliver the employment space in the mixed use development.

Letting agents Walker Singleton have reported that advanced negotiations for the two largest industrial units are in the works.

Construction is expected to start immediately after Easter 2016, with the first units ready for occupation in late 2016.

Genr8 is also teaming up with Taylor Wimpey to start building homes on the mixed-use site from January 2016.

The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for the Yorkshire and Humber region part-funded elements of the site’s new infrastructure including the recently completed new highway linking Hollas Lane with Holmes Road.

Genr8 partner Richard Ingham said: “The granting of detailed planning permission for the employment space is another significant step in the delivery of this flagship scheme.

“Following this milestone and the completion of the extensive site infrastructure works in December, we are now looking forward to commencing the delivery of both the employment and residential phases of the development early in the new year.”
