Commercial refurb firm makes North East move

REFURBISHMENT company Ultimate is expanding into Newcastle after a successful year which saw them turn over £6m.
The company is expecting to grow to £8m in turnover next year.
Ultimate was launched in 2002, as a consultant and contractor in the design and refurbishment industry. It was originally launched by Mark Hickey and Mark Naisbitt, with the addition of Dan Platt as a company director in 2007.
The company now has offices in Silsden, Salford Quays in Manchester and Newcastle. Associate director Steve Cowley joins to keep the momentum going in the North East.
Ultimate has worked on projects such as Pure Data’s new home in Leeds, as well as a full fit-out for St Phillips Chambers in Park Square.
One of Ultimate’s bigger projects this year was the St Paul’s Mercure Hotel in Sheffield City Centre which included a makeover of 163 bedrooms, including their restaurant and bar area, launch and reception.
In Manchester they recently completed a full scale design and build for the California-based software company Couchbase.
Ultimate has also taken on two apprentices and a few new members of staff this year.
Director Dan Platt said: “This is a very exciting time for us to continue our growth and recognition in the fit out, refurbishment and furniture market and we see the North East as a key area to further enhance our presence in the North of England, to add a new location alongside our Yorkshire and Northwest Offices.
“Over recent years while the market has been on a downturn and many companies battened down the hatches we have focused on growth and invested in people, systems and new premises.
“Now the market has become very buoyant once more we are positioned perfectly to accelerate into developing new relationships in the North East with end users, Building Surveyors, Architects, Interior Designers and Sales Agents.”
