Investment to create restaurant at West Yorkshire farm shop

A 150-seat café and restaurant and 19 jobs will be created at Farmer Copley’s in Pontefract after it secured development funding from Royal Bank of Scotland.

A barn will be converted which will house the Moo café during the day and the Beast restaurant on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. It will also include a meeting room for 20 people and a function room that can hold 100 people.
Robert Copley had worked on the farm straight from school before leaving the family business and returning years later with his wife Heather.
The couple opened the Farmer Copley’s farm shop two years ago and are now looking forward to the business’s expansion.
Mr Copley said: “Since then we have expanded and by being family orientated and focused on selling our own and local produce we have built up a great reputation.

“The decision to expand came about because we are literally bursting to capacity with visitors to the ‘Moo’ café and farm shop – especially when we have family events such as our renowned Pumpkin Festival and Christmas celebrations. Heather and I are really excited by this next phase of our development.”
