Appointments: Michael Lewin Solicitors; Britcon; Diamond Dispersions

NICOLA SMITH has been appointed as the head of industrial diseases at Michael Lewin Solicitors.
Ms Smith, who has previously worked at Irwin Mitchell, Eatons Solicitors and Kingson Law, is experienced at setting up, managing and growing Industrial Disease departments.

BUILDING, civil engineering, and structural steelwork company Britcon has appointed Craig McLackland as construction director.
Mr McLackland has more than 24 years’ industry experience following senior roles with businesses including ISG and Vinci/Taylor Woodrow International.
He has been involved in the management of major schemes including a £360m Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme portfolio in Sheffield, and a £50m decommission project at Bradwell Nuclear Power Station in Essex.
At Britcon McLackland will oversee operational activity on all construction projects across the business and managing key delivery departments including and health and safety.
Paul Clarkson, managing director at Britcon, said: “His wide market knowledge and detailed intellect for delivery will most certainly enhance our efficient delivery and inspire the team that he leads.”
Britcon has offices in Wakefield and Scunthorpe and directly employs 80 people on its project sites across the UK. Earlier this year Britcon announced that it had significantly increased business turnover by 17% to £31.5 million for 2014 and expects to record similar trading results for 2015.

SHEFFIELD-BASED Diamond Dispersions has added to its growing team with the appointment of three people with more than 85 years’ combined experience in the UK chemical industry.
Robert Lawson joins as production manager, Dave Fletcher has taken on the role of shift supervisor and Jane Micklethwaite is overseeing quality control.
