Trinity Leeds kicks off fashion festival

SHOPPING destination Trinity Leeds has announced it will sponsor Leeds Fashion Festival when it kicks off next month.

To celebrate the city-wide event, the shopping centre will host a free, live fashion show on Saturday 5 March.

Supported by Leeds Business Improvement District, Leeds City Council and Trinity Leeds, Leeds Fashion Festival takes place in March and October.

It aims to be the North’s largest shopping and lifestyle exhibition, showcasing independent fashion designers and boutiques as well as well-known high-street brands.

The event offers a range of fashion, hair and beauty shows, pop up shops, live demonstrations, networking events, glitzy parties and talks from industry experts.

Trinity Leeds will officially launch the festival this year with a live fashion show from 12pm on Saturday 5 March, where shoppers can enjoy the event as models strut their stuff through the shopping mall hourly throughout the afternoon.

There will also be giveaways on the day, offering shoppers the chance to win fashion goodies from the 20 plus retailers taking part.

David Maddison, general manager at Trinity Leeds said: “Leeds Fashion Festival is the ultimate shopping extravaganza for the people of Leeds as well a fantastic platform for young emerging fashion talent, and independent designers from around the city. We are delighted to support as a headline sponsor this year, as we work collaboratively to put Leeds on the map as a leading shopping and fashion destination.”

Lisa Darwin, founder and organiser of Leeds Fashion Festival, added: “Our aim this year is to become the biggest fashion and shopping event outside of London, and we really have ramped up the event this year with sponsors such as Trinity Leeds now involved. The fashion show will be a great event on the 5th March, and we’re really looking forward to kicking off this year’s festivities in the middle of Leeds’ iconic city-centre shopping centre.”

Leeds Fashion Festival will feature special events for the general public, local independent designers, fashion students and young designers at the city’s universities who will have the opportunity to showcase their design talents on the catwalk in October. The University of Leeds, Leeds Beckett and Leeds College of Art and Design all have strong Fashion Design courses and this mix of students from all over the globe help to mould and shape the fashion scene in Leeds.
