Insurer’s £19m offices make way for 500 jobs

GLOBAL insurer Hiscox has completed its 50,000 sq ft offices in York.

CBRE Building Services have finished the Hungate building, which Hiscox said can accommodate 500 staff.

It will house underwriters, legal advisors, claims, customer services, IT and HR and provide customer services to clients in the North.

It is a £19m investment by Hiscox in the city, and is the company’s largest building outside London.

The site was formerly a 19th century wool market. Make Architects and BAM Construction worked on the building.

Construction began in mid-2014 and the building was partially opened last year, employing 230 people in the city .
