International Women’s Day event puts construction entrepreneur in the spotlight

“WE need to be part of the solution rather than the problem,” said Jacqui Miller-Charlton MBE, as she prepares to hit the stage at Forward Ladies’ International Women’s Day celebrations.

Held on 3 March 2016, the Forward Ladies event, in partnership with TheBusinessDesk.com, will highlight the challenges from everywhere from the shop floor to the boardroom.

Ms Charlton-Miller is a board member of Miller International, and led the company with her two brothers for 33 years. She received an MBE in 2013 for services to industry and international trade.

“The elephant in the room is sisterhood,” said business leader Jacqui Miller-Charlton MBE, speaking to TheBusinessDesk.com. “We have to learn to help our fellow women. Then we are part of the solution and not the problem.”

“It’s no surprise company performance improves if women are introduced to an all male board,” said Ms Charlton-Miller, “we make a huge difference to thinking of how a business should be run, and have an awful lot to offer business, as well as society. We offer a unique skill set that most men don’t bring to the table.”

Griselda Togobo, owner of Forward Ladies said: “The great thing is that all the speakers have all been open and honest about their lives – including the mistakes they have made and the difficulties they have faced before they made it to the top.

“Everything we do at Forward Ladies is about developing the skills and aspirations of women in the workplace to equip them for whatever career paths they choose to follow. Both Jacqui and Laura Tenison are fantastic role models for women in business, and we believe that our audience will be motivated and inspired in their own working lives.”
