City centre restaurant hub set to launch in Leeds

THE ball has started rolling on plans for an £8m restaurant development.

Planning applications have been submitted to Leeds City Council to install four restaurants in the former Next Clearance site on the corner of 33 Bond Street And 53 Albion Street in the city centre.

Outdoor dining plans as well as a revamp of the basement and first floor have been submitted by the Leeds office of ID Planning.

Coast to Coast, lounge Cosy Club, Mexican grill Chiquito and burrito restaurant Chilango have all put their names to the site.

London-based Chilango will open its first site in the North if the plans go ahead.

It will be Cosy Club’s second Northern restaurant., while Coast to Coast, an American-style eatery, has outlets in Sheffield and Newcastle.

The site is close to the established Trinity Kitchen, connecting the business district with Briggate and the city centre.

Next has been at the site for 15 years, and their lease expires in October 2016, at which point they will leave the building, making way for the new development.
