Manufacturer wins £1.4m European order

TELECOMS tech firm Filtronic has won a multi-million pound contract from a European business.

It comes weeks after the Yeadon-based manufacturer said it was optimistic of a future return to profitability despite losses almost equalling revenues in the six months to November 2015.

Filtronic said the $2m (£1.4m) deal for integrated antennas with an unnamed original equipment manufacturer (OEM) is a follow-up to the £3.9m order received from the same customer in January.

It expects to complete the order within the current financial year, ending May, it added.

The contract is one of a series of wins for the business in the early months of the year. Last month, it confirmed it had won a $1.9m order from a “major” US multinational.

It signals a change of fortune for Filtronic, which missed its £1m target for a proposed share offer in December as it attempted to raise funds for a turnaround.
