250 year-old law firm merges

TWO law firms in North and West Yorkshire have merged, creating a 60-strong firm.

AWB Charlesworth Solicitors, which are based in Skipton, Keighley and Bradford, have merged with Worger Howcroft Solicitors.

The Bingley-based firm, which was founded in 2002, will add to the office network of AWB Charlesworth.

Andrew and Amanda Worger, currently directors of Worger Howcroft Solicitors, will become partners in the larger firm on 1 April.

The newly-created firm includes four offices, 10 partners and 60 staff.

Umberto Vietri, partner at AWB Charlesworth Solicitors says ‘Worger Howcroft Solicitors already has an excellent and well established reputation in Bingley and the merger with AWB Charlesworth Solicitors will enable a full range of specialist legal services to be offered to the existing private and business clients of the Bingley office.

“The bringing together of our practices will also strengthen and build up our growing base of clients and contacts throughout the Aire Valley towards our recently opened Bradford office.’

AWB Charlesworth Solicitors itself came as a result of the merger three Yorkshire legal practices; the former Armstrong Wood & Bridgman LLP Solicitors, Umberto Vietri Business Lawyers and Charlesworth Wood & Brown in Skipton with its practice history stretching back over 250 years.

Andrew Worger said:”The main objective of bringing the two firms together is growth and the greater opportunity to extend the legal services which we are able to offer clients. The combined teams of the newly merged practice will be able to provide a depth of experience and expertise in areas of wills, trusts and probate; commercial law; property and agricultural law; family law; litigation; employment law and business law.

“We are looking forward to this opportunity to offer new and existing clients our full range of expert legal support and we are delighted to move forward as part of a progressive and successful firm.”
