30 jobs created as brewery expands

A MAJOR investment has allowed Camerons Brewery to expand, launching its first Sheffield pub in partnership with Longhorns Barbecue Smokehouse.

Camerons is creating 30 jobs with its new venture, following an undisclosed six-figure investment.

The business is investing in The Old Monk on Norfolk Street in the city. It will become the Hartlepool firm’s eighth Head of Steam-branded site.

The venue is set to undergo a major refurbishment before launching in April.

It is the second recent addition to the business, as Camerons launches its second Head of Steam location in Headingley, Leeds which is also set to open in April.

The partnership with Longhorns will see the Smokehouse take over the running of the kitchen at the new Head of Steam.

Chris Soley, director and general manager at Camerons Brewery, said: “It is an exciting time for the company as we look to develop our brands through significant investments and launches throughout the Northern region. The Old Monk acquisition fits perfectly into our growth plans and will be an exciting addition to our Head of Steam portfolio in Yorkshire.”

“Since adding the Old Monk to our growing retail estate, it has always been our intention to turn this venue into one of our premium Head of Steam cask and craft outlets. It is a fantastic opportunity for Camerons and we are delighted to see our pub group extend outside our traditional North East area.

“The prime city centre location, so close to the Crucible Theatre, was a key reason why we took over the Old Monk and we believe that it will develop into one of our flagship pubs.”
