Legal appointments: Freeths, Squire Patton Boggs, Weightmans

LAW firm Freeths has expanded its Leeds office with the appointment of Lynne Webster, who joins as a senior associate in the real estate team.

Ms Webster joins real estate partner Matthew Thompson and director Liz Banks into the growing team, which has doubled in size over the last six months.

Ms Webster specialises in all aspects of commercial development work including development agreements, building agreements, leases, joint ventures and funding.

She also deals with commercial lettings and estate management and acts for buyers and sellers of high value investment properties.

Freeths managing partner for Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield, John May, said: “The addition of Lynne to the team in Leeds further strengthens our real estate offering.

“The team has grown substantially nationally over the past year and it is great to see our real estate practice going from strength to strength.”

FINANCIAL services lawyer Jeremy Ladyman has been promoted to partner at Squire Patton Boggs, with effect from 1 May 2016.

Mr Ladyman specialises in treasury and financial services matters for banks, building societies and corporates, amongst others.

He has also worked on secondment in the treasury team at Drax Power and The Norinchukin Bank, where he supported the treasury and compliance teams.

John Alderton, managing partner of Squire Patton Boggs in Leeds, said: “I would like to congratulate Jeremy on achieving this well-deserved promotion to partner. Jeremy is an experienced and exceptionally talented lawyer who has played a major role in the success of this office and the development of our financial services practice. We wish him every success.”

Mr. Ladyman is the second financial services partner in Leeds to be promoted in the last 12 months, with Andrew Fordham joining the ranks of the partnership in May 2015.

The announcement comes ahead of the firm’s move to flagship offices at 6 Wellington Place in Leeds in April 2016.

LAW firm Weightmans has announced a trio of promotions to fixed share membership status.

The firm, which acquired Yorkshire firm Ford & Warren, has promoted new partners: Sarah Conroy in Commercial Dispute Resolution, Chris Grady in Real Estate and Liam McGuire in Motor services.
