Construction company toasts £12m contract with soft drinks giant

CONSTRUCTION firm Harris Construction Management has landed a contract worth £12m with soft drinks giant Britvic.

The contract is the latest new business win for Harris Construction Management, and is in addition to the £20m worth of contracts the firm has won since the start of the year.

The new work for Britvic follows on from one completed and one ongoing project for the company and adds to Harris’s portfolio of work.

Danny Mulqueen, managing director at Harris explains: “We have just completed a major project for Britvic at its site in Bramley, Leeds to provide new production and storage facilities and we are now on site providing similar facilities at Britvic’s site in Beckton, East London.

“This latest contract will see our teams working at the Glebe Farm complex in Rugby building a number of extensions, covering 8,000 sq m, which will allow Britvic to replace two of the existing production lines with one single line that will provide the equivalent output, but with significant energy savings and waste reduction.”

The construction works will also help to strengthen Britvic’s position in the UK soft drinks market by creating space for the installation of two new robotic manufacturing lines, enabling the site’s production capacity to be increased by 25% to 120,000 cans per hour.

Britvic is one of the largest suppliers of both still and carbonated soft drinks in the UK and produces brands including Robinsons, Tango and J20.

Mr Mulqueen added: “We have worked hard to deliver cost-effective and innovative construction solutions that will allow the company to expand by re-developing their existing facilities, rather than having to invest heavily in brand new ones. Identifying safe, practical and logistical solutions that can be delivered at a competitive price has been the key to winning contracts with Britvic, and we look forward to continuing to build on our relationship with their team.”

Harris Construction Management employs more than 50 people, and predominantly operates in the private sector delivering industrial, commercial, residential and retail schemes.  The company has delivered consecutive year on year profitable growth since its formation seven years ago and grew turnover to £43m in 2015.
