Restaurant owner faces manslaughter charges over ‘deadly’ curry

A NORTH YORKSHIRE restaurant owner is in court after being accused of manslaughter over the death of a customer.
Mohammed Zaman, 52, of Aylesham Court, Huntington, is on trial at Teesside Crown Court over the death of Paul Wilson.
Mr WIlson, 38, died after suffering severe anaphylactic shock in January 2014 after eating a takeaway from The Indian Garden in Easingwold, North Yorkshire.
He had eaten a curry with a cheaper ground nut mix which included peanuts instead of almond powder, despite stipulating no nuts were to be included in his meal due to allergies.
Mr Zaman reportedly took a “reckless and cavalier” attitude to risk at the restaurants he owned, according to the BBC.
He has pleaded not guilty to all charges, including manslaughter, perverting the course of justice and six food safety offences.
The trial is expected to last three weeks.
