STAFF at Leeds-based stockbroking and investment management Redmayne-Bentley are celebrating after a successful year’s fundraising for children’s charity Martin House Hospice.

The firm raised a total of £7,138 for the Boston Spa-based hospice after it was selected as its charity of the year for 2015.

Anna Crump, a member of the firm’s interactive group which volunteers its time and organises events to support the charity of the year, said: “Every year we throw ourselves into all manner of challenges for charity and this year has been no exception. Martin House does so much to support young people and their families across Yorkshire and it has been a privilege to support them.”

When staff weren’t running gruelling half-marathons, they were rustling up a series of dishes including casseroles and apple crumbles made from home-grown fruit. Throughout the year, prize draws were held in the office and staff donated clothing for the hospice’s shops across Yorkshire.

Doncaster Sheffield AirportDONCASTER Sheffield Airport has named a Yorkshire-based children’s charity as its beneficiary for 2016.

The Children’s Hospital Charity exists to support and enhance Sheffield Children’s Hospital, one of only four dedicated children’s trusts in the UK.

Staff at Doncaster Sheffield Airport will hold a number of fundraising events throughout the year and passengers will be encouraged to donate via the annual coin collection which sees passengers donate any loose sterling, foreign coins or notes in departures and arrivals.

Steve Gill, managing director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport, said: “We are delighted to announce our chosen charity for 2016.

“The Children’s Hospital Charity works to provide specialist equipment and to create a warm welcoming environment for children and families visiting the hospital. As a specialist hospital, Sheffield Children’s sees patients from across the UK and we are extremely lucky to have such a fantastic facility within the Sheffield City Region.

“We know that our staff and passengers are very generous and will support this fantastic charity through events and by donating unwanted coins in arrivals and departures.”

FIFTY-NINE staff from Kings Security are taking on the Skipton Tough Mudder in August to raise funds for the company’s nominated charity, Martin House Children’s Hospice.

Kings has supported the hospice for more than four years and last year raised £6,500, when a 23 strong team undertook a gruelling 127-mile bike ride along the path of the Liverpool to Leeds canal.

But, this year the Kings Conquerors are taking on their toughest challenge yet when staff take on Tough Mudder in an attempt to raise more than £11,000.

The team will be led by Kings Security CEO, Anthony King. He said: “We’re all looking forward to taking on the Tough Mudder challenge, and to raising as much money as we can for a fantastic charity that really makes a huge difference to families, by providing vital care and support during some of the most challenging times in their lives.”

Kings Security is supporting the staff taking part in the event by covering all the entry costs with all team members committing to raise at least £200 each to achieve the charity total.
