1. Swaledale Festival

Date: 10am-4pm Saturday 28th May to Saturday 11th June  
Location: Yorkshire Dales, Hudson House, Reeth, Richmond

This award-winning festival of music, arts and walking in Swaledale has been running since 1972 and is set to start this weekend. Visual arts, drama, poetry, comedy, film, dance, talks and guided walks have given this two-week festival its reputation for quality entertainment.

Highlights of this year’s festival include: The Hallé Orchestra; Benjamin Grosvenor; Dame Emma Kirkby; Stile Antico; Fitzwilliam String Quartet; Heath String Quartet; Charlotte Barbour-Condini; Niamh Ni Charra; Christine Tobin.

2. Enchanted forest

Date: 28th May 2016 – 5th June 2016
Location: Tropical Butterfly House

Whether you have young children or are just young at heart, the enchanted forest and magical fairy garden is a great day out to discover tiny pixie dwellings and fairy hideaways, with Fairy Guides on hand to help you explore the forest and make it truly memorable for little ones.
There will be a daily free-flying Bird Display and the usual timetable of animal encounters will be taking place too with the chance to meet lemurs and meerkats up close.

Malton Food Lovers festival is a celebration of the very best Yorkshire produce and cooking. Set across the streets of Yorkshire’s food capital, it is said to be ‘THE’ food festival of the North.  Chef demonstrations, cookery classes and a seafood emporium are just a few of the attractions at this year’s festival.

4. Priscilla the musical

Date: 3pm and 7:45pm Saturday 28th May
Location: Sheffield Lyceum

Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical returns to Sheffield in 2016 due to popular demand. Based on the smash-hit film, Priscilla is the heart-warming, uplifting adventure of three friends who hop aboard a battered old bus searching for love and friendship and end up finding more than they could have ever dreamed of.

5. Austwick Cuckoo Festival & Street Market

Date: 10am – 4pm Monday 30th May
Location: Main Street, Austwick, Lancaster

Expect classic Yorkshire food including hog roast, pies and peas and cakes and scones. Entertainment from the Oak Jazz band and Zoot, cuckoos, an abundance of market stalls including crafts, spares and tombola. Classic cars will be on show, a raffle, skittles, shire horses and much more.

6. At your own pace race

Date: 10:30 Monday 30th May
Location: Plum Tree Farm, Glaisdale, Whitby, YO21 2PZ

Fun for all the family with 4.5 mile run around Glaisdale Dale for adults and 1 mile fun run for children . Register on the day. Adults £5 entry and children £2.50.
Refreshments available all day at Plum Tree Farm including soup, sandwiches, hot and cold drinks.
Proceeds in aid of the Robinson Institute.

 
Lockton Artists Open Studios 7. Lockton artists’ open studios

Date: 10am – 5pm Saturday 28th May – Sunday 29th May

During the bank holiday weekend a selection of local artists will open up their studios and workplaces to the public.

The Sheffield Food Festival has grown into one of the best loved weekends in the city’s event calendar and showcases the quality and diversity of food and drink produced within the region.

A British afternoon of racing, entertainment and fine food at a Very British Raceday, featuring the Brian Yeardley and the Hilary Needler trophies.

The Spa Bridlington 10. Vintage Fair

Date: 10am-5pm Sunday 29th May

Location: The Spa Bridlington

Natasha Harper and Mr Brandyn Shaw will be entertaining at the vintage fair this bank holiday Sunday along with 1940s chef-made food and a dedicated tea room with sea views.

There will be over 50 vintage stallholders, a hairdresser, free workshops and some classic cars, scooters & bikes on display outside.
