Leisure company offloads five-star country parks

YORK-BASED holiday park company Park Leisure 2000 has sold two North East holiday sites.

In the deal, supported by Colliers International, the North East parks were sold to a Northumberland-based company, Verdant Leisure,

The Kingfisher and Heatherview Country Parks are located near Stanhope in the Wear Valley, with capacity for 439 holiday homes.

Miles Dewhurst, director and co-founder of Park Leisure 2000, added: “Both Heather View and Kinkgfisher have been great assets within our portfolio for the past 17 years. With alternative projects and developments happening it was the right time to discuss disposals and we wish Verdant all the very best for the long term future at these truly exceptional locations.”

The acquisitions takes Verdant’s total number of parks to six across Northumberland and Scotland.

Graham Hodgson, chief executive of Verdant Leisure, concluded: “We are really excited about the acquisitions and look forward to continuing the high standards of the parks. We hope this is the first of several acquisitions that we intend to make in order to grow our business across the UK.”
