300,000 sq ft Enterprise Zone scheme on the cards after acquisition

A MAJOR South Yorkshire site has been sold, with planning consent for 300,000 sq ft of industrial developments attached.

Gladman Developments sold Gladman Park in Barnsley to Barmston Developments for an undisclosed sum.

Barmston, a joint venture between Wilton Developments and Clugston Estate, acquired the site to develop four units.

Occupiers within close proximity to the site include Mercedes Benz, Volvo, Distinction Doors Company Shop, ITAB, AECOM, HSBC, McDonalds, Premier Inn and Pilkington Glass.

Jason Stowe director at Barmston Developments, added; “This is the JV’s second new EZ development and we are looking forward to working closely with colleagues at the LEP and Barnsley MDC to bring forward what is a significant distribution and manufacturing opportunity in the region.”

Andy Hartwright, land director at Gladman Developments, said: “The site has superb connectivity and the capacity to accommodate four units of varying sizes up to 100,000 sq ft and as such will make an important contribution to the regional logistics market.”

Senior director of Industrial Agency at CBRE Leeds, Mike Baugh, said: “The sale of Gladman Park has unlocked this strategic site for the development of much-needed new industrial accommodation on the M1 corridor. The sale represents an excellent result for both parties and we look forward to seeing the future development of the site.”
