Water main burst closes off Leeds city centre road

GREAT George Street in Leeds is likely to remain closed until Saturday, the Council has warned, while repairs to a burst water main are carried out.
A Leeds City Council spokeswoman said: “We appreciate that the closure of Great George Street will cause inconvenience for those travelling through the city centre and local businesses. Yorkshire Water has advised us that the area is likely to remain closed until Saturday to allow their contractors to safely carry out repairs to the main and damaged roads and pavements.
“As with any emergency repair like this, diversions have been quickly put in place. We’ll be closely monitoring traffic to alleviate the inevitable disruption wherever we can. If you do need to travel to the area, please consider a different route or allow extra time.”
