130 year-old company set to create 200 jobs

A 130 YEAR-OLD Hull business has announced it will be creating up to 200 jobs following a £25m investment in facilities.

Arco, a safety equipment business which has supplied protective suits to medical personnel during the Ebola crisis, is a fourth generation family business.

It has announced that is expanding its Hull facility and adding 200 jobs to its current numbers of 1,500.

The company has submitted a planning application for a 220,000 sq ft addition to its Henry Boot Way manufacturing facilities.

Neil Jowsey, joint managing director at Arco said: “Arco is deeply committed to the local economy, its people and environment, so it made natural sense that the NDC2 be built here on home soil.

“We are working with local architects and experts to design and construct a building that will complement the surrounding area and provide a sustainable, high-tech facility to enable us to grow our business and provide a secure future for Arco in Hull.”
