Leeds City Region gears up for MIPIM

MOMENTUM is building in the Leeds City Region ahead of the UK’s largest property conference and exhibition, MIPIM UK.

With four months to go until the UK property forum opens, Leeds City Region has already secured substantial private sector backing in advance of the official launch of its sponsorship programme.

Scarborough Group International and Thorpe Park Leeds have once again signed up to be part of the City Region delegation; with businesses including Bilfinger GVA, Bruntwood, CEG, Harworth Group, Shulmans and Quod also confirming their support.

Roger Marsh, hair of Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership, said: “Our City Region is a world class destination for foreign investment, and in the wake of the recent EU referendum, the private sector is sending a clear message with its support for our trade and investment activity, that it is working with us to maintain stability in the economy and drive future extraordinary growth.

“I’m delighted with this early commitment from the private sector, it reaffirms our partnership approach and highlights that the City Region remains an attractive location for potential investors.”

Tim Waring, director at Quod, added: “Quod is pleased to pledge its continued support to the Leeds City Region. MIPIM 2016 offered us the opportunity to highlight some of the exciting projects we’ve been advising on within the region to an international audience, including the redevelopment of the former Yorkshire Post site, the former Yorkshire Chemical site, The Tetley site, and Clayton West, near Huddersfield. As a result of our attendance we were able to meet as many senior investors and decision makers in one week as we can do in one year.”

Craig Burrow, director of Leeds at Bruntwood, commented: “MIPIM 2016 was my first experience of the international property forum for a number of years, and the first time I’ve part of the Leeds City Region delegation. It was clear that there was a strong commitment from both the public and private sector across region. I would encourage more businesses from across the City Region, not just those within the property sector, to sign up and support the delegation, to ensure our unique ecosystem is represented on the grandest stage. We must remember that together we can achieve far more than we can individually.”
