18% revenue hike at litigation-only law firm

LITIGATION-ONLY law firm Stewarts Law has reported an 18% increase in revenues after a successful year.

For the year to 30 April 2016, Stewarts Law turned over £62.1m, which the firm says is an 18.5% increase on last year.

Revenues derived from tigation and includes the sum of £853,000 in

respect of value recognised on certain contingent work where the income recognition policy

applied in our management accounts differs to the statutory financial statements.

John Cahill, managing partner said: “We are pleased to have marked the end of our 25th year with another solid set of financial results.

“During the year we added twenty lawyers to the headcount including both lateral hires and internal promotions. We were delighted to offer 7 new training contracts. We have a busy and challenging year ahead with a number of substantial trials and the launch of trust litigation in September.”

Stewarts Law has been in Leeds for 11 years, and was formed in London 25 years’ ago. Its competition litigation department was opened in 2009 by Leeds-based former Eversheds partner Jonathan Sinclair and boosted by the recruitment of Mo Bhaskaran from Pinsent Masons in 2013 to head commercial litigation.
