Motor group creates 100 jobs with latest acquisition

INDEPENDENT car company Arnold Clark, founded by the billionaire of the same name, is creating 100 jobs in York.

The business, which is still family-run, has acquired 8,2 acres (357,000 sq ft) of development land at York Business Park for an undisclosed sum.

It has received planning permission for a new motor vehicle dealership which will create around 100 jobs for the region.

The site was sold by Dobbies Garden Centre as part of a restructure of their assets.

Dobbies were advised by Property Consultants Holder & Co Limited on the disposal.

Managing director Owen Holder said: “This sale represents the culmination of over 12 months work by a number of parties and it’s exciting to see York Business Park continue
to flourish with new development.

He added: “The arrival of Arnold Clark along with other impending new development on the business park, serves to highlight the strength of demand in the region despite the
obvious high profile Brexit fears.”
