QHotels has recruited Wayne Topley as general manager of the group’s landmark Leeds city centre hotel The Queens.
Mr Topley has more than 20 years’ experience managing hotels for Marriott, De Vere, Barcelo, Intercontinental Hotel Group and Redefine BDL Hotels.
He said: “Like most people in the region, I have always known The Queens as a landmark hotel, standing proud in City Square with its signature red carpet rolled out. My job has taken me all over the world and very few hotel groups would have excited me enough to move back to Yorkshire, but The Queens and QHotels did just that.
“As general manager, there’s an incredible opportunity to build on the hotel’s long-standing reputation and magnificent surroundings, listening to what’s important to our guests to deliver an experience above and beyond the already high expectations for a hotel of this type.”
Michael Purtill, managing director at QHotels, said: “Wayne’s outstanding track record and experience make him a fantastic addition to the QHotels management team but importantly, his passion and understanding of the region, The Queens and its guests, means he has exactly what’s required to lead the hotel forwards, enhancing the experience for our guests.”
