IN an unsurprising turn of events, rumours are circling of a takeover bid at beleaguered football club Leeds United.

With fans unimpressed, a stadium they don’t own, employment tribunals in abundance and a chairman that treats his tax affairs like an overdue phone bill, maybe it’s about time Leeds got a change of ownership.

This week the Bank of England cut interest rates in a slightly anticlimactic announcement, seeing as we expected it last month. Despite this, it was the first time in seven years it has been cut, and to an historic low.

The BoE indicated that it may be cut again before the end of the year putting pressure on banks to make sure they pass lower borrowing costs onto consumers. Watch this space.
