Wake up with the chickens at new glamping huts

A FARMING family from Yorkshire are celebrating their first anniversary of the successful business venture with the launch of two new luxury glamping huts on their working farm near Filey.

The Burton Fleming farm, which is also home to free range chickens, provides a rural retreat for busy city dwellers seeking a space to get away from it all and has already proven popular with young professionals and couples looking for a short break in the country.

Due to increasing demand for the huts, owners Edward and Mandy Lindley have expanded the site from just one shepherd’s hut in September to now offer three.

The couple have also appointed local holiday letting specialists, Yorkshire Cottages to market the quirky properties.

Regional manager of Yorkshire Cottages and cottages.com Debbie Wibberley said: “We are delighted to have been chosen by Edward and Mandy to represent these three stunning shepherd huts.

There is a huge market for glamping getaways and a growing desire among holidaymakers to get away from it all without travelling far from home.”

The Lincoln Longwool, Blue Texel and Swaledale huts have been carefully built by local craftsmen and are each equipped with their own private hot tub, fire pit and wood burning stove.

After previously managing B&B’s, Edward and Mandy Lindley wanted to focus on self-catered getaways and take advantage of the growing glamping trend.

Mr Lindley said: “It was important to us that we created a space that we would want to stay in ourselves, and attention to detail when it came to styling was a high priority.

“Within less than 12 months we had already recouped the cost of the first hut and recently expanding our offering to three huts is a major milestone for the business.”
