Legal action over listed building as council forks out £1.2m

A GRADE-II listed building in Grimsby needs a further injection of £1.2m says the council, after legal action against its owners failed.

The BBC has reported that £1m has already been spent on Victoria Mill but the council is now saying that further repairs are urgently needed to preserve the building.

Planning permission to convert the silo part into a residential site has now lapsed with the Victorian flour mill complex has been left to deteriorate.

The council said that the unidentified owners have failed to respond to legal action.

In February 2016, 70 residents at the mill were evacuated as high winds made the building unstable.
