Argentinian steakhouse set to open at Victoria Gate

STEAKHOUSE restaurant CAU is the latest restaurant to sign up to Hammerson’s £165m Victoria Gate development.

The Buenos Aires-inspired steakhouse restaurant is taking 5,220 sq ft of space on the first floor of the central arcade.

It will offer an all-day menu of steaks, burgers and small plates as well as brunches and Sunday roasts.

D&D has already signed up to develop a Japanese-style restaurant, and international bakery and restaurant group, Le Pain Quotidien is launching its first site in the North at Victoria Gate.

The shopping centre is set to open on 20 October 2016, with John Lewis as its anchor tenant.

The 75,000 sq ft Victoria Estate will encompass both Victoria Quarter and the new Victoria Gate with its two-street covered arcades.

Robin Dobson, director of Retail Development at Hammerson said: “We are looking forward to welcoming CAU to Victoria Gate, as well as Leeds’ dining offer. Like many of the other brands we have secured, CAU’s decision to launch at Victoria Gate reflects the unique retail and dining environment of the scheme, one that provides the perfect opportunity for brands to step outside of London and build a presence in Leeds.”

Charley Springall, head of Marketing at CAU, commented: “We are very pleased to be continuing our relationship with Hammerson following the successful launch of CAU in Reading earlier this year and Southampton in the near future. We are excited about launching our 21st site in the UK in such a vibrant and diverse city as Leeds, particularly as part of this much anticipated regeneration project. We are looking forward to introducing locals and tourists alike to our restaurant soon.”
