New Zealand head chef brings taste of home to Leeds

NEW ZEALANDER and head chef at Basque restaurant Pintura Greg Lewis is bringing a taste of home to Leeds next week.

The head chef has teamed up with New Zealand winemaker Hugh Crichton to for a five-course tapas tasting menu.

The Meet the Maker dinner on October 4 will pair New-Zealand inspired plates with win from the Anthony Joseph Vidal Estate which is located in Hawkes Bay.

Guests will be treated to Kiwi favourites including Mejillones de Nuevo Zelanda – green lip mussels, Tocino y Huevo Pastel – bacon and egg pie and Merengue Grande Pavlova.

Greg has recently been given a nationwide seal of approval as Pintura Kitchen and Bar was a shortlisted winner for Best Restaurant in the Observer Food Monthly Magazine’s national awards.

Opened in March 2016, the Basque restaurant is also home to a basement gin bar that has also recently been recognised in respected industry awards Imbibe’s Drink List of The Year
in the gin list category.
