100 jobs to be created at North Yorkshire retail project

A NORTH YORKSHIRE retail scheme which will create 100 jobs has been given the green light from authorities.

A 41,470 sq ft project in Skelton-in-Cleveland will be delivered after the local council approved plans put forward by Manchester’s HOW Planning on behalf of Urban and Civic.

The Pheasant Fields Lane has approval for a 22,500 sq ft retail unit, with a 5,000 sq ft B&M Bargains site, as well as two smaller retail units and a McDonald’s eatery.

The site is adjacent to an existing Asda supermarket and a consented Aldi Foodstore and Marston’s Public House.

Emma Williams, planner at HOW Planning said: “This exciting new development will facilitate harmonious travel between the existing, consented and proposed retail within the immediate area and will improve the economic sustainability of Skelton by strengthening the local economy through investment and employment.

“Furthermore, the development will reduce the need of local residents to travel outside of Skelton for convenience goods which will divert trips from the wider highway network, including the A174.”
