Makeover for ‘landmark’ town centre hotel

AN independent hotel in Halifax has undergone £200,000 worth of refurbishments as its owners invest in their portfolio.

The Wool Merchant Hotel in the town centre, has seen an overhaul of the venue’s 55 hotel rooms, as well as the reception area, boardroom, bar and the La Taverna restaurant.

As part of its refurbishment, has extended its hospitality operations and can now host up to 120 people.

Dr. Abhishek Gupta, owner of the Wool Merchant Hotel said, “We’re delighted to be unveiling our newly refurbished hotel and hospitality facilities to the public.

“The Wool Merchant Hotel has a rich tradition within Halifax, and as an experienced hotelier, with over 15 years within the hospitality industry, I believe it will make a great place to hold special occasions within the town.

“We are ideally positioned only a few minutes walk away from the town centre, railway station and bus station. In addition, we have parking facilities for up to 24 cars and large adjacent public car parks.

“Our aim is to always offer a quality service to our customers, whatever their requirements and we look forward to extending a warm welcome to all new and existing visitors to the hotel.”
