100 firefighters attend Leeds factory blaze

100 FIREFIGHTERS are reportedly on site at a fire at Crossgates in Leeds.

The fire broke out just after midnight at the Towngate Link on Cross Green Way in Leeds.

Firefighters are expected to be on site all day, with more than 20 fire engines currently on site.

The site is home to Allied Glass Containers according to Towngate plc and the Leeds City Council website.

The single storey-building is thought to be home to the Brighouse company’s manufacturing facilities, which acquired a second unit at the Towngate Link site in 2012.

Allied Glass Containers is the UK’s fourth largest glass container manufacturer and also occupies space at Haigh Park Road, Stourton, another property included within the Towngate portfolio.

The company has the capability to produce 13 million bottles every week from manufacturing sites in Leeds and Knottingley too.
