5 things to do in Yorkshire this weekend

UNSURE what to do this weekend? We’ve come up with a list of five very different activities for you to experience within Yorkshire.

1. Herd of Sheffield
Date: Friday 14th – Sunday 16th October
Location: Meadowhall, Sheffield

This weekend offers a chance for shoppers and art enthusiasts to say farewell to Sheffield’s elephant sculptures as they are gathered together as a herd for the very last time. The special collection of 58 brightly-coloured elephants has been the largest public art event the city has ever seen, enlivening the streets and open spaces of the Sheffield throughout the summer of 2016.

Brace yourself for a terrifyingly entertaining night of fear and fun with five separate live action haunted house attractions, a zombie themed bar and a few spooky surprises at the farm where tragedy struck in 1873.

Lit up3. Lit/ Up festival
Date: Wednesday 5th – Saturday 22nd October
Location: Venues across East Riding

East Riding’s two literature festivals, Beverley Literature Festival and Bridlington Poetry Festival, are lighting up the region this autumn with a celebration of words that will keep you talking, thinking, listening, questioning, writing, reading and moving. The line-up includes Lord Robert Winston, Will Self, Terry Waite, Alan Titchmarsh, Simon Armitage, Jodi Picoult and many more.

Beer4. Oktoberfest at Alpamare
Date: Friday 14th – Sunday 16th October
Location: Alpamare, Scarborough

For the whole weekend, the best of Bavaria will be splashing into the Yorkshire Coast. With authentic Octoberfest beer, stunning Bavarian food, traditional games and competitions and a huge waterpark, it’s set to be a fun-filled couple of days. Prost!

Location: Millennium Square, Leeds

This October, the Lady Boys of Bangkok are heading back to Millennium Square in Leeds with a brand new cabaret infused show. Performances will take place in the Sabai Pavilion with tempting Thai cuisine on offer.
