£2m gym development launches in Leeds

A £2m gym development has opened in Leeds following JD Gyms’, part of JD Sports Fashion Group, transformation of 30,000 sq ft of space within the Prospect Park site in Seacroft.
JD Gyms has signed a 15-year lease and the renovation work has resulted in a fitness centre featuring over 250 pieces of cardio, strength and functional fitness equipment.
The venue also boasts saunas, a sprint track, prowler track and the area’s largest free weights area and boot camp zone. A large studio and spin studio play host to over 400 classes a month, all of which are at no extra cost.
The arrival of the gym has not only seen an empty building being given a new lease of life, but has also created 15 jobs.
JD Gyms managing director Alun Peacock said: “We are delighted to have opened our brand new, low cost gym with a difference in Leeds. We are offering exceptional fitness facilities, an unrivalled class timetable, luxury surroundings and saunas in a convenient location on a highly affordable, non-contract basis. A gym of this caliber in this area has been a long time coming and feedback and take up from local residents has been incredible.”
John Lund, chairman of Prospect Estates, added: “This is another high profile letting and development secured by us and we are extremely pleased with the quality of tenant fit out works produced by the JD Gym project team. Having bought the four-acre site just over 20 months ago when it was empty we are delighted to report the commercial space is now fully let and we continue to search the country for similar opportunities.”
